Going and Doing

For me it was pretty simple. After hearing Pastor John Siebeling speak about “going and doing” and the vision of Go Global it became really clear that this was something that I just needed to do now. No more rationalizing, no more excuses, no more “somedays” – it was time to step forward and answer the call to “Go Global”.
The trip was more fantastic, exciting, rewarding, fulfilling; simply more than I could have hoped or prayed for. It really defied human logic in that by giving and serving others I received more that I could have ever imagined. It gave me a whole new perspective on life, on God’s people and on His creation. It certainly reinforced the simple fact that we are all the same, every single one of us. We all want the same things - to love and to be loved, to laugh and to live knowing that there is more to life than what we can see and feel. More specifically, I learned that kids are kids and that the same silly faces and tricks that my own kids love make kids in Mozambique who can’t understand a word I say laugh and smile as well.
The most touching moment of many during my time in Africa came as we were praying as a group under the stars and by lantern light at a game park in Swaziland. It was simply incredible. Here we were, a group of ordinary folks from Memphis and Baton Rouge under the big, beautiful starlit sky thousands of miles from our homes connecting deeply with each other and with our Creator. We prayed as a group for a good while, we prayed for the beautiful people of Mozambique and Swaziland, for the leadership of those countries, for Isaac and Carol Williams the missionaries in Mozambique and for Charles and Kristen Young in Swaziland. In those moments God spoke to me and let me know that what I had seen and experienced during this trip was only the tip of the iceberg, that at some point, perhaps when I least expect it or feel prepared for it, that He may call me to do more for Him in loving, serving and telling others about His Son and what He has done for us. Go Global!!!
